  • Create a space for active filing: One of the main contributors to clutter in the home office tends to be files and paperwork. In order to keep the space and yourself organized, it is a good idea to create a space for active filing. This means making room for a spot for files or documents that you need to either scan into your computer or work further on. This will help you sort through what needs to be done and what can be tossed.
  • Designate a spot for everything: Once you have decided which documents you are actively working on versus the ones you aren’t, it is important to make sure there is a spot for everything. Using custom built-ins and baskets is a great way to give everything you need in your office a home. Be sure to organize the items in a way that makes the most sense to you and is easily accessible.
  • Discard documents you no longer need: Having documents and paperwork that you no longer use in your home office can be cause for clutter pile up as well. Be sure to either shred documents you no longer need, or discard of them in a different manner as soon as you are done with them. This will reduce the paper work present in the space, giving you more space for more pressing items.
